Synopsis

When I was in grade school I played little league baseball. It was great fun and I worked hard at being a good ballplayer, mostly because my older brother was a fine pitcher and I wanted to be one too. My mom always came to the games to cheer me on, and although I don’t ever remember hearing her voice distinctly, I did know she was there. My dad, however, never came to a game. At the last game of the season I remember walking to the mound and I looked out past the outfield only to be surprised to see my dad leaning against the fence watching the game. He was wearing dark sunglasses and he looked like a mysterious secret agent on a reconnaissance mission. I never asked him why he was there, but I was always curious.

I decided to write a short story trying to imagine what our conversation would have been like if I had asked him why he was there, as the curiosity was still fresh in my mind. I am not sure where this story will go but it’s sure to be funny, divulging and enlightening!
