Review: A Frolic Through Fiction
"This is a story of love and loss, fear and hope, war and peace. This is a story that made me feel both heavy-hearted and content. This is a story that really moved me, and a story that I want more people to read." - Ashleigh, A Frolic Through Fiction, United Kingdom I was excited to read the latest review of Paper Boats from across the sea. Ashleigh, blogger at United Kingdom based A Frolic Through Fiction, has recently given Paper Boats 4.5 out of 5 star review. She shares

Research in Poland's Countryside
Researching for my novel, Paper Boats, was as every bit of fun as it was to write it. The photo posted here of me was taken by a farmer on his land in the Polish countryside early in the morning. I think this was 2007. If you follow my blog posts, you may remember a month or so ago I posted a map of Otto’s travels (Otto, for those that don’t know, is the main character in my book). I’m not the kind of writer who sits home and dives into books and attacks the internet doing re

Updates from Erndell Scott's Desk
Every day I receive emails from readers from all over the world sharing their wonderful thoughts about the journey they go on when they read my new novel, Paper Boats. I’m very humbled people are enjoying the experience. Many readers compliment the unique writing style and voice of storytelling and how it sweeps them off their feet and takes them somewhere unknown, somewhere unexpected emotionally. It’s especially fun to get emails in different languages, but no matter, the s

Victory in Europe Day
It’s sad to say, but for most people World War II VE Day is all but forgotten – perhaps even meaningless. VE Day, for those that do not know, means Victory in Europe. Sure, some online networks and few newspapers will have a small article about it, but most people and media outlets skim right over it or pass it up altogether. Now, I should clarify because from my observation this only pertains to the United States. The English, French and most European countries, whose soil w

An "Equal" to Paper Boats
I continue to write and rewrite my next novel, The Doll Maker, which is a companion book to my newly released novel, Paper Boats. I say companion because this book follows one of the characters on their journey at the same time Otto, from Paper Boats, is on his. It’s not a prequel, or even a sequel. I guess that makes it an “equal." While I’m proud of Paper Boats, it being my first effort, The Doll Maker will be much different, which should be expected as I’m a better writer

#WriterWednesday
I received an inspirational email from a fellow author who extended to me his supportive words of encouragement and good-cheer. I love those kinds of emails! This writer had read Paper Boats and was impressed by the “unorthodox” writing and unique “flavor” (his words) in how I tackled my novel in regard to a historical fiction piece of work. He went on to say it expanded the traditional and typical way of handling this genre and that he was happy to see someone pushing the bo

#FridayWrites
Friday is supposed to be for sharing what book I’m reading, but I’m in the zone writing my new novel, The Doll Maker, and haven’t had much time to do much else. Now I say I’m writing, but what often happens my silly kitty cat wants to sit right on top of me and hang out. It’s taxing enough to write without having to give attention to the cat. I must say, she does create a warm lap on this cold, drizzly spring day, so in regard to that her companionship is delightfully welcom
